Fo those of you who like a good scare at Halloween we have several frigtening options like the Haunted Mill, SCarowinds Halloween Haunt XII, Hickory Grove Haunted Trail, as well as a few options for the little ones like Bootanical at DSBG, Schiele-O-Ween, Halloween Bash, Howl-O-Fest's Boo Blast and 10th Annual Little Spooks Parade. All right here in Gaston County.
This celebration is especially for those little ones who want to celebrate the friendlier side of Halloween. Participate in fun, plant-based Halloween activities and ghoulish games. Search for plants with spooky names like the creepy eyeball plant and bat faced cuphea. Children who wear their costumes get 50% off admission. Oct 27-28 at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.
If your family is looking for some spooky fun, look no further than The Schiele! The Schiele-O-Ween event will be filled with fun and interactive family activities, including cowboy trick or treating, planetarium shows, hands-on activities and a special showing of the stage program Halloween Tales. Great for the entire family; kids are encouraged to attend in costume!

4. Haunted Mill
For over 10 years The Haunted Mill has been scaring us each Halloween without fail. Each year they refit The Mill with new scenes or update active scenes. Over the years as the business has grown they have added The Purple Planet 3D Mini Golf, an indoor, climate controlled black light putt-putt course, a game room and a party room that can be rented out for any occasion but make no bones about it, they are in the business to scare and this year they are going all out with many new scenes. Carowinds is transformed from a “theme park” to a “scream park” as it debuts SCarowinds’ Halloween Haunt XII, the largest, most horrific Halloween event in the Carolinas. Carowinds has brewed up some spooktacular family fun this Halloween with the return of Howl-O-Fest’s Boo Blast this October! During the daytime, the park’s Paladium Amphitheatre Plaza is transformed in to a street party of frightful fun for kids and their families.
